How do I backup my iPhone / BlackBerry / Android phone contacts?

Download the IDrive Lite application on your iPhone / BlackBerry / Android phone. Register for an IDrive Lite account. Your contacts are automatically backed up. For subsequent backups, click the Backup button.

How do I restore contacts to my iPhone / BlackBerry / Android phone?

IDrive Lite provides multiple restore options, on clicking the Restore tab. You can restore all or selected contacts, any previous backed up version, contacts from another IDrive Lite account or another iPhone / Blackberry / Android phone.

I have registered multiple IDrive Lite accounts. Can I restore my contacts from one account to another?

Yes. Click the Restore from another account option on the Restore tab. Provide the email address and password of the other IDrive Lite account used to register your device(s) and restore contacts from it.

Can I restore contacts from one device to another device (iPhone / Blackberry / Android phone)?

Yes. Click the Restore from other device(s) option on the Restore tab to restore contacts from one device to another.

Can I restore an older backed up version of my contacts?

Yes. Each time you click the 'Backup' button after the initial backup, IDrive Lite archives your contacts as a Backup set with an indicative date. Click Restore from earlier versions to restore an earlier version.

What is Locate feature?

Locate feature lets you view the location of your contacts, have other contacts view your current location, manage their access and update your location information, all with a permission based process.

Currently, this feature is supported for iPhone and Android.

How do I see my friend’s location?

To view your friend’s location, tap on the Locate my contacts button. This displays a map view of your friend's location information.




Alternatively, you can view your friends location even from the web. Login to your IDrive Lite account and click on 'Locate Contacts'. This displays a map view of your friend's location information.

How do I stop sharing my location information from my friends?

Tap on the Manage Access to my Location button. Disable the contact by tapping the '' button to stop sharing your location information with them.

I am getting 'No user has enabled Locate feature for you'. Why?

When no contact/friend has allowed you to view their location, the message No user has enabled Locate feature for you will be displayed.

What are the operations that I can perform from the web interface?

You can view and manage your contact information. Also you can add or delete contact information, import contacts from Facebook and view logs of the activities performed from the website and the application.

How do I import contacts to my IDrive Lite account from Facebook?

Click the Import Facebook Contacts icon. Login to your Facebook account and select the contacts that you want to import to your IDrive Lite account.

You can restore these contacts to your mobile device.

What is Activity Log?

It lets you view a report of operations like backup, restore, delete etc. performed in your IDrive Lite account or mobile device between specified time periods.

How do I change my account password?

Login to your IDrive Lite account. Click the Edit Password icon and provide the new password.

Can I register multiple devices with a single email address?

Yes. You can register one or more iPhone / BlackBerry / Android devices with the same login credentials.

Does IDrive Lite support backup of custom labels for iPhone?

Yes. You can backup and restore custom labels to/from your iPhone.

I have multiple entries under a single label on my iPhone. However, the IDrive Lite application seems to be backing only the last entry. Why?

For instance, if you have saved two mobile numbers for a particular contact as below:

Contact name: John
Mobile: 5400000000
  5500000000


Use any of the below options to resolve this issue:

Option 1
Create custom label for the second mobile number as below:

Mobile: 5400000000
Mobile1: 5500000000 (Custom label)

Option 2
Add the second mobile number under another category for the label as below:

Home Mobile: 5400000000
Other Mobile: 5500000000

To report an error, you can use the feedback form. On iPhone, click the Report Error button on the 'Account Info' screen.

I have canceled an IDrive Lite account. Can I register the same device with another email address?

Yes. You can cancel your account and register it afresh with different credentials.

I have an OS version 3.2. Will I be able to backup my contacts?

Yes. For OS versions below 4, download and install the 'IDrive Contacts' application on your iPad / iPhone and sign up for an account. 'IDrive Contacts' has similar features as that of IDrive Lite (except for the 'Locate' feature) wherein you can backup / restore (via application), view logs and manage your contacts via the web.

Note: For OS versions 4 and above, backup your contacts with IDrive Lite.

How do I backup photos from my iPhone / iPad?

Download the IDrive Photo backup app from iTunes. Sign up for a new account or login using your existing IDrive Lite credentials. Use the photo feature to start backing up photos from your album.

How do I restore photos to my iPhone / iPad?

In the IDrive Photo Backup app, tap the restore photo option from the menu. You can restore photos from other iPhone devices and other IDrive Photo Backup accounts.

Can I view my backed up photos from the web?

Yes, login to www.idrivelite.com via any browser and click on the ‘View Photos’ icon. All backed up photos will be displayed. You can save photos to the local computer or delete photos from this option.

Can I backup / restore contacts and locate them using the IDrive Photo Backup app?

Yes, your contacts will automatically get backed up to your IDrive Photo Backup account upon first installation. Restore your backed up contacts through multiple options, on tapping the Restore tab.

Use the locate feature to view location of your contacts, have other contacts view your current location, manage their access and update your location information, all with a permission based process.
